What is PLA+ filament?

What is the difference between PLA and PLA+?
Standard PLA is easy to print but relatively brittle. PLA+ is formulated for a better balance of toughness, strength, and printability, which makes it the better pick for functional everyday parts. What nozzle temperature should I use?
Start at approximately 215°C. Use 205–215°C at 50–100 mm/s, or 215–245°C at 100–200 mm/s, then adjust for your printer and model. A temperature tower settles it in one print — here's how to read the result.
What bed temperature is recommended?
A heated bed at 50–60°C is recommended. On an unheated bed you'll want a suitable adhesive to improve first-layer adhesion. If the first layer is giving you trouble either way, our bed adhesion checklist works through the causes in order.
What printing speed should I use?
Start at 60–100 mm/s for reliable results. A compatible high-speed printer can go faster once nozzle temperature, flow rate, cooling, and acceleration are calibrated — start with a calibration print rather than raising the speed blind.
Is PLA+ stronger than standard PLA?
Generally, yes — PLA+ is formulated to be tougher and less brittle than standard PLA. Real part strength still depends on print orientation, wall thickness, infill, temperature, and layer adhesion. Is PLA+ suitable for functional parts?
Yes, for light-duty functional parts: prototypes, organizers, tools, toys, brackets, and everyday items. Don't use it for safety-critical or high-temperature applications without testing. For parts that need real heat or impact resistance, compare the options in PC vs. ABS vs. ASA vs. PETG.
Does PLA+ require an enclosure?
No. PLA+ prints well in the open with normal room ventilation and good part cooling. Enclosures matter for materials that shrink hard as they cool — warping 101 explains which materials actually need one.
Can PLA+ be used outdoors?
PLA+ is primarily an indoor material. Prolonged sunlight, moisture, and heat will affect both its appearance and its mechanical performance. Is PLA+ heat-resistant?

How should I store an opened spool?
