How does PETG Rainbow change color?
Multiple colors run sequentially along one continuous strand, so as the printer consumes filament the model shifts gradually from one color to the next. No multi-material hardware is involved — the transitions are built into the spool.
Do I need a multicolor printer for PETG Rainbow?
No. The transitions are built into the filament, so a standard single-nozzle printer produces the full multicolor effect. If you do run an AMS and want to combine it with other spools, see setting up Filazoo filament in your AMS or multi-material system.
Will two PETG Rainbow prints look identical?
Not necessarily — and that's part of the appeal. Color placement depends on where you start on the spool, model size, infill, wall thickness, and print direction, so each print lands slightly differently.
Why does my small model show only one color?
A small model may not consume enough filament to reach the next transition. Print a larger model, add walls or infill, or batch several objects on one plate to pull more color through. If you want to start nearer a particular color, changing filament mid-print covers advancing and purging safely.
Can I control where each color appears?
Not precisely, on a standard continuous print. Where the colors land depends on your starting position on the spool, the transition length, model size, walls, infill, supports, and total filament consumed.
You can advance the filament before starting to begin closer to a preferred color, though that uses extra material — changing filament mid-print covers doing it cleanly.
Is PETG Rainbow suitable for functional parts?

What nozzle temperature should I use for PETG?
Start at 230–250°C. For PETG Matte HF, use 230–260°C. Nudge the temperature up if layer bonding is weak or you're printing faster; bring it down if you see stringing or excess gloss. A temperature tower settles it in one print — here's how to read one.
What bed temperature should I use for PETG?
Use a heated bed at 70–90°C. A clean build surface plus a thin release layer on smooth PEI or glass gives reliable adhesion without bonding too strongly. If the first layer still misbehaves, work through our bed adhesion troubleshooting guide in order.
How should I dry PETG?
Dry PETG at 60–65°C for 6–8 hours as soon as you notice popping, bubbles, rough surfaces, or extra stringing. Use a filament dryer or a controlled oven that holds a stable low temperature — ovens, dry boxes, and dedicated dryers compared covers what each one costs and how well it works.
Why is my PETG stringing?

Does PETG need an enclosure?
No. PETG prints well in the open — just keep the printer out of strong drafts and use moderate cooling. Enclosures matter most for materials that shrink hard as they cool, which warping 101 explains in detail.
