What is the difference between ABS-GF and standard ABS?
Glass fiber adds stiffness and dimensional stability and gives a textured matte surface. In exchange the material is more abrasive on your hardware and less flexible than standard ABS. ABS-CF, ABS-GF, PETG-CF, and ASA-CF compared sets out where each filled material belongs.
What nozzle should I use for ABS-GF?
A 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle. The larger bore gives reliable extrusion with fiber-filled material, and hardened steel survives the abrasion — brass will not. Brass vs. hardened steel: choosing the right nozzle explains the rule for filled versus standard filament.
Does ABS-GF require ventilation?
Yes. Print it in a well-ventilated area, using an enclosure rated for high-temperature materials. If ventilation isn't something you can guarantee, choose a lower-temperature material instead — our classroom filament guide covers the safety reasoning.
Can ABS-GF be sanded?
Yes, but sanding releases fine polymer and glass-fiber dust. Wear eye protection, gloves, and suitable respiratory protection, and control the dust — wet-sanding helps. This is a real difference from sanding unfilled filaments, which our guide to filled filaments touches on.
