Why must PA6/ABS be dried?
PA6 (nylon) absorbs moisture from the air faster than almost anything else we sell. Wet filament causes popping, bubbles, stringing, rough surfaces, inconsistent extrusion, and weaker layer bonding. Should PA6/ABS remain in a dry box while printing?
Yes. On long prints, feed it straight from a dry box — nylon reabsorbs moisture from room air within hours, so drying it once at the start isn't enough. How to store filament properly covers desiccant and the humidity level worth aiming for.
Is an enclosure required for PA6/ABS?
Recommended. A stable chamber environment reduces warping and layer separation on a material that shrinks meaningfully as it cools — see warping 101.
Is PA6/ABS suitable for gears?
It suits prototypes and many light- to medium-duty mechanical components — nylon's wear resistance is a real advantage in moving parts.
